Raising happy & healthy kids

If You Don’t Come From a Healthy Family, Make Sure a Healthy Family Comes From You ·

Why is it hard for some people to break cycles?

Environment plays a very large part when it comes to our mental health. We are a product of our environment and this is why often times those who do not learn emotional regulation, hurt others. At some point in life we become aware of this pattern and that awareness presents us with a choice. We can justify our choices with excuses and repeat familiar patterns or we can dig deep, figure out exactly why we are the way we are and refuse to inherit dysfunction. Ultimately we need to choose to break the cycle ourself in order to learn new ways. Not everyone is willing to do this.

My approach emphasizes creating a more conscious and connected relationship with your child.

Looking at our past is a great way to understand a lot of who we are today. Our past does not only influence our present but it can also serve as a map and in terms of how we react under stress and also how we are triggered.
Make a decison and stand by it. Your child deserves a healthy & loving envirement and so do you. Educate yourself on self regulation. Choose to consume content that resoantes with who you want to be.
Acceptance. This can cause some people to struggle with justfying abuse. Revisiting certain situations can cause pain or shame. Thinking that a child deserves tough love in order to learn and become a good person is the start of internalizing unhealthy discipline as normal parenting.
Be consistent and patient. Education is wisdom so take it all in. Time is precious so do not waste it on anger or sorrow. Be an example for your child and remember that it is never too late to break the cycle!
